Twilight’s Last Gleaming

The fog rolled in at the beach

Just before sunset.

Pale water-colored oranges, reds,

And purples.

Was it the waves crashing

That I heard?

Or the sun as it sank

Under the sea.

Beneath the horizon

Violently hissing

Out its last light.
